FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEBestnet Opens New St. Louis Internet Data Center"We have aggressively expanded our data center capacity to meet the growing worldwide market demand," said Joshua Chen, CTO of Bestnet. "Bestnet continues to enhance its position as a leader in the advanced Web hosting market by combining our high performance Internet network with comprehensive Internet technologies." The new data center has direct connections to UUNET (WorldCom), Sprint, AT&T and Level 3 Communications, allowing clients to outsource their E-business needs to Bestnet without having to worry about their link with top Internet backbone providers. Many small and medium size businesses cannot afford to build their own data center, therefore; E-business outsourcing will also save clients tens of thousands of dollars in equipment fees and thousands of dollars in monthly fees. As E-business grows and businesses need to have a server that hosts only their site, the dedicated server and collocation industry will also grow. With a dedicated or collocated server, you no longer have to worry about the loads being placed on a single shared server and disk space being shared with other sites. Bestnet can now host over 10,000 servers at its new data center and will provide each with world-class Internet data center features. In addition to the traditional dedicated server and collocation clients, others who will benefit from the new data center are those in need of services designed for telecom providers and those needing rack space, storage devices or dedicated ISDN, DSL, T1, T3, OC3, 10mb and 100mb Ethernet connections. The building in which Bestnet resides is supplied with triple power feeds from the utility company. In the event of a power outage, the data center is equipped with a 1.5-Megawatt ONAN diesel generator. This generator, which can keep the network up and running indefinitely, will take over until the utility company has power restored. The data center also uses an MGE data center Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). This UPS has been installed to constantly monitor and regulate the quality of power coming from the wall so that equipment always receives the clean 120-volt power it was designed for. The new data center is protected with a pre-action fire protection system. It also boasts complete environmental control with its redundant Liebert indoor cooling systems and is kept at an optimal temperature of 65 degrees Fahrenheit. These cooling systems provide precise, reliable control of room temperature, humidity, and airflow that improves operating conditions for sensitive electronic equipment. Access to the building can be achieved through an automatic door, which is operated by a state-of-the-art access control system. Since all employees have access to the building, a detailed record of employee and visitor entry is maintained at all times. Fewer employees have access to responsive areas of the data center and must pass through multi-point security checks, including bio-metric readers, for data center access. In addition to security, the new data center offers all the conveniences of a modern office, including a reception area, personal workstations connected to a Local Area Network (LAN) and conference room facilities.
